“Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare
This story of young love that I’m sure almost everyone has heard of or even worldwide knows. I read this story as a freshman in high school and now in college which is fun. The movie was very interestingly made because they used their language instead of using our everyday vocabulary. Having it that way made the movie more interesting for me because I had to rethink what they meant and try to figure out the true meaning of it. The Capulets are wealthy and well-off, whereas the Montagues are from the less affluent areas of the neighborhood. Romeo meets Juliet when he and his friends crash the annual party hosted by the Capulets. They fell in love right away, and it was heartwarming to witness how Romeo pursued her even though they were from two different dimensions. They persevered and battled to be together despite the challenges. Towards the end, Romeo believed Juliet had committed suicide by drinking the poison but sadly he discovered too late that Juliet was still alive. Romeo passes away practically immediately while Juliet wakes up. Juliet couldn’t stand being alone so she killed herself after witnessing his demise. Overall, this story sent me on an emotional roller coaster since, although it started so nice, it eventually turned me sad, angry, and disappointed.

Hi Joy, I like the image you used and how you explained your impression when you first saw the movie in high school. I feel the same way about the movie; the ending was unfortunate, and we wish the ending was different.
