Reflection of “Popol Vuh” by Joy Kirchhoff

From what I have read so far from “Popol Vuh”, the story is about the creations of Maya. There were six deities including the Framer, the Shaper, Tepew, Quetzal Serpent, Xpiyacoc, and Xumucane. They are covered in green and blue feathers that are in the primordial waters. The sea and the sky existed while nothing else was. Shortly they gave birth to earth, giving it rivers, trees, humanity, mountains, valleys, bushes and more. Once nature was established, they came to the conclusion of needing to create living beings. So they gave earth, animals, the animals that include deer, birds, pumas, jaguars, rattlesnakes and so on. Animals did not do what they wished them to do so the god was not happy but proceeded to find better worship. Then they created wooden people but were destroyed too. They then created the third and final form of human beings by using white and yellow corn which is very important in producing humans. The white and yellow corn means the creation of the first humans, the first grandparents and on to the generation, back to its connection to their ancestors.
